Our implementation process was part of the more global data governance approach initiated by the Group. With the help of KPC, we defined a data governance organization, which we applied to our first use case. We identified the main data owner and data steward roles for this use case and mapped them in DataGalaxy.
Overview
Onet, a French family-owned group, is an international player in engineering and services, deploying innovative and responsible solutions every day to create healthier, safer, and more reliable environments. The Onet Group works with organizations in the cleaning, security, hospitality, logistics, airport services, and nuclear engineering industries. Through its various activities, the group employs over 66,000 people and generates sales of €1.9B.Project background
With multiple locations in France and abroad, Onet wanted to optimize a shared vision of the group’s organization by setting up a company directory that was updated daily.
They also wanted to clarify, complete and homogenize its data, so as to be able to analyze them beyond the operational and legal hierarchies.
Their main data use cases were as follows:
- Share a common vocabulary for the entire organization
- Define content experts
- Create a single source of truth for all datapoints
Strategic challenges
They identified key strategic points they wanted to address with a data catalog:
- Increase responsiveness and reliability in decision-making
- Promote digital transformation
- Streamline information systems
- Create a competitive advantage
- Sustain corporate knowledge
- Ensure regulatory compliance in conjunction with the DPO and contribute to cybersecurity in conjunction with the RSSI
The Data Knowledge Catalog implementation process
Onet chose DataGalaxy for several reasons:
- User-friendly interface: A simple, highly intuitive solution for their employees, enabling them to quickly adapt to their workflows.
- Flexibility: From a technical point of view to represent the company’s vocabulary, both business and technical
- Library of 70+ connectors: Enabled Onet to efficiently integrate technical information from all their data sources into the system
The implementation of DataGalaxy was part of a more global approach to data governance. With KPC’s help, they defined a data governance organization and used it to implement their first use case.
They also identified the key data owner and data manager roles around this use case and mapped them in DataGalaxy.
Results of using DataGalaxy
The benefits of DataGalaxy according to Onet Group
- The user-friendly design of the platform, which encourages rapid adoption of the tool within teams
- The flexibility of data modeling, enabling the tool to be customized to meet specific needs
- The support provided by DataGalaxy teams and their ecosystem of partners
We’ve identified six main strategic challenges around data. The first challenge is really to increase responsiveness and reliability in decision-making, that’s the main one. Next, we want the data approach to enable us to support the Group’s digital transformation. Obviously, the aim is also to rationalize the information system, and we believe that this can be achieved through a data governance approach.
